Library Cards:
Who is eligible for a library card?
Any resident of or property owner in Independence Township or the City of Clarkston over the age of 5. You are also eligible for a card if you work in Independence Township.
What you'll need to get a library card:
A state issued picture ID with your current address on it. We can also accept a state issued picture ID with official mail addressed to you at your current address (like a utility bill or a tax receipt from the township). Children with no picture ID will need to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Those that are employed in the township will also need to show a recent paystub to prove employment.
Non-Resident Cards
If you are not eligible for a library card as a resident, you may be able to use your library card from your local library! We belong to The Library Network and Michicard. If your local library is a member of either of these groups you can check items out. You just need to have your home library card (with a Michicard sticker affixed if you are coming from a Michicard library) and your driver's license/state ID.
Lost or Stolen Card
Please report a lost or stolen card immediately to the library staff either in person or by phone at (248) 625 - 2212.
Replacement cards are $2.00.
