Welcome to The Friends of the
Independence Township Public Library Page

Are you wondering what the Friends do?
We're just a group of people trying to help our library by volunteering and trying to make a difference.

We hold 4 events per year: Spring Book Sale, Parking Lot Sale, Fall Book Sale, and Holiday Book Sale. Check out our 2009 calendar for dates for all of our events.

We’re always accepting donations of used books for these events. See our Donation Guidelines. Volunteers are always needed to sort donated books or work at events. Call 248 625-2212 or email friends@indelib.org for more information.

Perhaps you're wondering why the Friends do this?
We try to purchase "extras" for our library that aren't in their budget. The library staff prepares a wish list twice a year for the Friends to consider purchasing for the Library. The Friends have recently provided:

  • Children's Programs
  • Laminating Machine
  • CD/DVD Display Cases
  • Bike Racks
  • Wireless Access
  • Children's Literacy Education Workstations
  • Ten New Computers
  • Remodeled Teen Lounge

    Who are the Friends?

Anyone that wants to join and support our library! We're really just a fun group that's always looking for new volunteers. We currently have over 250 members.

    Want to be a Friend?
The benefits of Friends members include quarterly newsletters, admission to members only previews before book sales, and having a say in how money is spent to support the library at meetings twice a year.

Click here to print off a membership form and simply mail it in or bring it to the library.
