It's that time again! Summer Reading 2016 begins on June 20th at our
SUPER SUMMER READING KICK-OFF EVENT!!
Our theme this year is "On Your Mark, Get Set, Read!" so we'll be focusing on fitness. But not the boring old kind where you hop on a treadmill and walk for an hour. No. We are going to play! Check out our calendar (http://indelib.evanced.info/signup/EventCalendar.aspx) for all the fun events we have planned. You'll find family events like a Petting Zoo and Exotic Animals as well as age specific programs from everyone from ages 0-100!
And for the first time ever, we will be keeping track of our reading progress online! Follow this link to register for our Summer Reading Program anytime after June 20th. (Summer Reading Program). Check the adult and teen pages for links to their registration sites too.
Once you are registered you can start logging your minutes on the home page of your Summer Reading page. Want to see how many hours you've read? Check out the "Books" tab at the top of your page.
When you are looking at your page, you might be asking "What's under the Challenges tab?" Well, we will tell you right now! Under the challenges tab you will find some fun activities, that, along with your reading time logged, will give you chances to earn raffle entries for some of our fabulous Grand Prize baskets sponsored by the Friends of the Library and the Women's Club of Clarkston. Here are some idea about what those prizes might be!
So, everytime you earn a raffle entry, you also recieve a corresponding button to start filling up your lanyard, which you will recieve at registration, or the next time you come in after you register.
Different, right? Never fear though. Our old friend the counting jar, will make an appearance one week as well as some new fun and exciting passive programs that you can play while you are visiting us! Along with the counting jar, we will also have a Judge a Book by it's Cover contest and a Shredded Book contest! Watch for them in the children's area. These activities will give you a chance to win a Summer Reading Tee Shirt!
If you have any questions, give us a call! You can ask for Miss Tracy, Miss Erin M, Miss Tina or Miss Erin H. Information librarians should be able to answer any questions too!
Hey everyone! Ms. Erin created a great resource for you Battle members! Here you will find a list of frequently asked questions (and answers!), a list of the 2016 Battle books and some interesting information that might just help you out come Battle time! Please take a look!
It's that time again! Time for the 2nd Annual Clarkston Independence District Library/Sashabaw Middle School Battle of the Books! Every month we update our Reader's blog with new material and with lists that you might find interesting and relevant for the month! Check it out!
Here, not only will you find booklists for several different age groups but we want you to participate too! Click on the blog tab at the top of the page and share some of your own suggestions for good reading! We'd love to read some reviews of good books from our older Clarkston Kids, and maybe even see some art from our younger readers in the area!
