CALLING ALL BOOK GROUPS
If your Clarkston area book discussion group is selecting books for your new reading season, Independence Township Library can help. The Library offers “Book Group Kits To Go”. These bright bags contain multiple copies of a book that has previously been purchased for the Library's own book discussion groups. Some of the kits also contain prepared discussion questions and background materials on the book and its author. A representative of your book group can check out a kit for up to eight weeks and you may reserve your kit in advance. The library is currently offering more than 50 different book kits with titles ranging from classics like THE GOOD EARTH to recent best-sellers like THE DAVINCI CODE. A list of available book kits is available at the Reference Desk or on the library website here.
FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY
Besides fundraising, the Friends of the Independence Township Library serve as an advocacy group for the Library and promote library awareness throughout the community. Many Friends serve as library volunteers. If you are interested in the Independence Township Library, become a Friend and receive a library mug or other gift, invitation to the book sale preview, and the Friends' newsletter. The Friends meet twice yearly at the library. Membership brochures are available at the library's Circulation Desk or from the Friends website.
